Buy IHG Points at Lowest Price Ever + Cool Stuff

How did I figure out that you could buy IHG Points at lowest price ever? The IHG Rewards Club has so many different types of offers that award you extra points including hotel promos, rental cars and a few travel partner offers. I accidentally discovered a way to buy IHG Points for an Insanely low price while I was doing a little digging on the site. In the Partner Offers section there’s an option to book “IHG Trip Extras” through Viator and earn 1,000 points for each activity booked. IHG Trip Extras is powered by Viator which is a third party activity booking portal under the Tripadvisor umbrella. There are more than 200,000 bookable activities that you can plan in advance or book on-the-go. I’ve only booked audio and self guided tours so I can’t speak to much else but it really seems like an awesome way to earn a few extra points and book reasonably priced activities.

If you play around with the destinations and get lucky you can find some incredible offers. A few days back I’d found and booked a shopping tour in NYC for $1 and sure enough I did receive 1,000 about 5 days later. Right now there are audio tours in Boston for $2.50. I was visiting Boston for the first time in a long time for the new casino opening and I decided to purchase a few different audio tours to listen to while I was rediscovering the city. I thought the whole concept was pretty cool because you get to download the audio tours and consume them any time you wish. A few weeks ago I’d booked a 25 cent holographic photo op for 10 people and we all got 1,000 points, I was blown away that I could essentially buy 1,000 points for a quarter. We ended up skipping it so I still have no idea what a holographic photo op is but please let me know if you’re familiar with the activity. and really en Surprisingly these points also credited to my account as elite qualifying points.

Even crazier is that these points have been posting at elite qualifying!

Offer Terms

Offer available for purchases made before 11:59 PM ET December 31, 2019. Points will be awarded within 4-6 weeks of the completion of the activity. To qualify, activity must be booked through this site. Canceling your transaction will invalidate this offer. Offer is subject to change. All other IHG® Rewards Club Terms and Conditions apply.

Thoughts

I wouldn’t go crazy because it’s a good way to get your account flagged but this is a nice option to top up your account and book some pretty cool activities in the process.

It seems that the website will not allow me to book any activity for one person. Is the minimum really 2 people?

Thank you Grant! I think we killed it but hopefully people got a few in before.

I’m getting an error “Please verify and re-enter the credit card details, or use a different credit card.“ when trying to book a tour — tried 3 different cards from 2 banks on 3 different card networks so it seems like a ihg/viator issue.

It does seem like a lot of people are having similar issues. I used chrome each time and did a few different cards

I do not know why, I have tried to checkout by it reminds me “Please verify and re-enter the credit card details, or use a different credit card.” However, I believe that there should be nothing wrong with my card.

Awesome hot tip. However, my three attempts all failed, the site keeps asking for a new credit card.

Others are reporting similar issues, I’m guessing with all of the extra activity this generated the system had some issues.

I value IHG points at $.005 per point, so while getting 1000 points is nice, they’re only worth $5.00. So it boils down to whether or not it’s worth my time spending a dollar here and a dollar there to make $5.00.

I would agree, for me it was great to get the extra qualifying points because I needed about 10k more

Bethany, where can I find these for $1. I searched Atlanta, but lowest is one thing at $5

Thanks for your presentation at the Chicago Seminars

Awesome tip! Hopefully they’ll fix the credit card issue. Quick question: you wrote that you booked for 10 people and all 10 got points. Does that mean that all 10 booked separately or did you book all 10 at once and it gave you 1K points per person rather than per booking?

Does it force everyone to purchase these for 2 people? Or is it just me? I try to change it to one person but it won’t allow me to do this.

Greg @Frequent Miler found that it was requiring a minimum $10 purchase now- so maybe that’s the issue?
