AA Elite Status Offer
American Airlines has sent out emails with a targeted offer to some customers gifting them free Platinum Pro or Platinum AAdvantage Elite status through June 2021. Even more awesome is that you’ll get 20 500 mile upgrades just for registering! That’s an $800 value and will come in very useful for anyone with status. The cool thing about 500 mile upgrades is that they never expire. The AA elite status offer includes a status challenge to keep status through January 2022 with significantly reduced qualification requirements (as you can see from the email terms). You’ll have 3 months from the date you register to complete the challenge and secure your status.

Conclusion
Anyone who received this offer should absolutely register for it just to receive the 20 500-mile upgrades. That’s pretty spectacular since they generally cost about $40 each! This is a pretty amazing offer if you’ve been targeted. That being said, if you were planning on doing a status challenge at the end of the year with AA, definitely don’t register for this offer since that will likely preclude you from being eligible for AA’s standard status match offer.
